SK Tuote Oy was founded in 1975 and its whole business is derived from a fastening invention that made the fastening of insulation boards to flat roofs possible. The companys first invention was named sienikiinnike, SK from which the name SK Tuote is derived.
SK Tuote started to develop new products and then sold what it had designed. Production was first based on subcontracting. At the beginning the idea was to develop roof accessories and later on produce them. The know-how for roof building SK Tuote possesses today, is based on a long experience in the industry. Continuous product development has also led to dozens of patents.
Back in 1970s the usage of plastic was still very rare and people were suspicious rather than excited about it. In spite of these suspicions we were the first company to start the production of plastic insulation board fasteners in the Nordic countries.
In 1980 SK Tuote started to produce fasteners for family houses and in the same year the company also went to exports. Our business changed significantly in 1983, when our own plastic injection-moulding factory was established in order to manufacture our own products. The production of pass-throughs for high-pitched roofs started in 1984.
Vilpe Vent brand was invented in 1988. The introduction of this new product category led to production of new pass-throughs, first to metal roofs, felt roofs and finally to tile roofs. Ventilation pipes had already been part of the product range since 1985.
In 1990 SK Tuote started to manufacture roof fans and it was the first company in Europe that introduced a plastic roof fan for the markets. Today SK Tuote is a clear market leader of discharge pipes and small roof fans in Finland.
